Praise for This Changing Sky:
‘Truly extraordinary’ - Acoustic Guitar Magazine
’Quiet and understated, yet intricate and daring. This doesn't sound like a debut album, but the work of someone deeply invested in the melodic possibilities of classic guitar. No wonder that Laura Snowden studied under the late, great Julian Bream, yet there's something new and wondrous in these compositions.’ - NPR
’This album is a joy: an extraordinary first album… influences of Erik Satie, jazz, and great tunesmiths such as George Harrison’ - Music Teacher Magazine
’At a time when many guitar recitals and recordings seem driven by the need to demonstrate technical mastery or stylistic fidelity, This Changing Sky takes the opposite approach: that of an artist who uses her instrument—and her voice—as tools for emotional storytelling and aesthetic exploration.’ - Trastes Sonoros
‘Unique, artful, and fantastic’ - Fingerstyle Guitar Journal.
About the album:
This Changing Sky features ten of Laura’s compositions and two of her folksong arrangements. Alongside Laura’s guitar playing and unique vocalisations, there are collaborations with Loz Garratt (bassist for jazz singer Jamie Cullum), saxophonist Amy Green and violinist Joo Yeon Sir.
“It is an album about feeling you’ve lost your sense of self,” Laura explains in her album sleeve notes, “and the tumultuous path to finding your way back. It is about gaining strength and trust in ourselves, but also about finding deep tenderness and connection to the people we love who help us on our way. I wanted the album’s ultimate message to be one of healing, hope and recognition.”
